Propagating is the most satisfying part of plant care — free plants, and a great way to use the bits you prune off.

Water propagation, step by step
- 1
Find a node
Cut just below a node — the little bump where roots and leaves emerge.
- 2
Into water
Place the node under water, leaves above, in a bright spot out of direct sun.
- 3
Refresh weekly
Change the water every few days so it stays clear and oxygenated.
- 4
Pot up
When roots reach 3–5 cm, move it into a small pot of soil and keep it moist for two weeks.
Spring and summer give the fastest, strongest roots thanks to longer days and active growth.
